New v2.2 release of myTibetan for Android! Now with sentence parsing.

Well, that was a hell of a ride to update all the dependency changes since 4 years ago when I last touched the Android project in my Xamarin solution. The biggest migration was  targeting Android API 33, which is a new requirement from the Google Play Store (yeah, they also added a deadline with a ticking clock in the Play Console). So I had to update all Xamarin.Android.* Nuget packages to their Xamarin.AndroidX.* version and fix all the API changes.

The lack of tests makes this refactor quite risky. Luckily, the functionality of the app is small so it’s easy to verify all scenarios. The tremendous help in this process was the Google Play pre-launch report, which is based on starting the app on 9 different devices and monkey clicking through the screens.

But enough small talk, here comes the biggest update for the functionality of the app (I managed to release versions 2.0, 2.1, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, and 2.2 all in one day, but not because it all went so smoothly, hehe).

What’s new

2.2

– Adds new dictionaries:
– 84000 translation project glossary.
– Alex Berzin Dictionary Courtesy of Berzin Archives (https://studybuddhism.com).
– Computer Terms.
– Dan Martin.
– J.S. Negi.
– Richard Barron.
– Tibetan Terms Project.

2.0, 2.1, 2.1.1, 2.1.2

– Parse and translate whole sentences (your own offline Translation Tool).
– Fixes bugs and supports running on new Android versions.
– [Breaking change!] Deprecate Android below 5.0.

Hope you enjoy this update and let me know if anything can/should be improved!
